Alteia at GTR MENA 2026

Alteia was pleased to support GTR MENA 2026 in Dubai, joining industry participants, investors, banks and corporates from across the Middle East and global trade finance community.

As part of the event, Ian Henderson, Chief Investment Officer, moderated the panel discussion, “Trade as an asset class: The next wave of institutional investment,” alongside Sinan Ozcan (DP World Trade Finance), David Wigger (Liquide Finance) and Anthony Wadsworth-Hill (Mercore).

Across discussions throughout the conference, one theme emerged consistently: trade finance is increasingly being viewed as part of mainstream institutional portfolios rather than a niche allocation. Conversations focused on the continued growth of the asset class, the role of governance and transparency in attracting institutional capital, and the importance of disciplined risk management in emerging markets.

The UAE’s position as a global trade hub was also a recurring topic, reflecting the scale of regional trade flows and the continued development of trade infrastructure across the region.

During the panel discussion, participants explored how technology can support scalability, while recognising that governance, transparency, standardisation and settlement frameworks remain fundamental to long-term institutional participation in the asset class.

The discussions aligned closely with Alteia’s own approach to capital deployment, focusing on disciplined underwriting, structured transactions and long-term portfolio resilience.

We would like to thank GTR for hosting another successful event and everyone who took the time to engage with the Alteia team throughout the conference.
